Edward spent £15,000 to build the most stunning castle in North Wales. Within 700 years only three monarchs stayed there. Taxpayers were a little bit concerned that most of the time royal apartments are empty. Ironically, Edward, I spent only one night there in 1294. It was a very expensive investment, but at least it was completed. In comparison with Beaumaris and Caernarfon castles that were never finished by Edward.

Conwy Castle – things you should know before your visit
Conwy Town Walls are free to visit. However, there is an entrance fee to the castle. There is also paid parking alongside the town walls. Don’t worry, because there are as well some free parking areas near the Golf Club or on the other side of the bridge.
It is recommended to → book your visit in advance. Dogs are not allowed at this site, except assistance dogs. However, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to visit in North Wales such as Aber Falls or Barmouth beach.
Town of Conwy – the most haunted place in Wales
The site of bloody battles has also some stories to tell. There is a legend about two monks that haunted this castle. Their presence was so strong that dogs did not want to enter some parts of the building. What could be more creepy than that?
